Embedded: Stacked PC/104-Plus SBC Sports 1.6-GHz Pentium M Processor

William Wong  |   ED Online ID #12471  |   May 11, 2006

The Cheetah single-board computer (SBC) uses a two-board stack to house its 1.6-GHz Pentium M processor with a 400-MHz processor-side bus and 855 GME chip set, which handles up to 1-Gbyte double-data-rate SDRAM. It can plug into the top of a PC/104-Plus stack. The system contains two serial ports, a parallel port, two USB 2.0 ports, 100BaseTX Ethernet, IDE, audio, and PS/2 keyboard/mouse support. Video support uses the Extreme Graphics 2 video built into the chip set. It supports low-voltage differential signaling and CRT monitors at resolutions up to 2048 by 1536 with MPEG-2 decoding for full-motion video. The video RAM is allocated from system memory (up to 64 Mbytes). The system also has a Compact Flash socket. I/O connections have enhanced electrostaticdischarge resistance. The system draws less than 25 W. Pricing for the Cheetah SBC starts at $1500.
