Anchor Bay's ABT2010 video processing ASIC features all of the processing power of Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series (VRS) technologies, including 10-bit precision deinterlacing that provides five-field motion adaptive and edge adaptive processing for an artifact-free viewing experience; and 10-bit Precision Video Scaling II that can independently scale an image horizontally and vertically to achieve outstanding picture quality for today's high-definition video displays.

The ABT2010 also features Anchor Bay's new VRS Progressive Re-Processing (PReP) technology, a processing method that reverts the progressive video signal output from source equipment to its original interlaced format, then converts the interlaced signal to progressive format using Precision Deinterlacing.

Progressive Re-Processing (PReP)

PReP effectively restores a video signal to its interlaced beginnings, allowing it to be properly deinterlaced using Anchor Bay's reference-quality precision deinterlacing, which applies motion, edge and source adaptive algorithms to eliminate jaggies, combing, and other degrading effects.

PReP can enhance 480p, 576p, 1080p/50 and 1080p/60 signals. Since 480p/576p formats, and not their interlaced counterparts, are the norm for HDMI outputs on source devices, PReP can process a signal in its purest form and transport the signal via HDMI to match the exact resolution of a display.

Currently offered in the VP50 video processor, PReP will also be a key feature of the newly announced ABT2010 ASIC for OEMs. In addition to PReP, the ABT2010 will allow consumer electronics manufacturers to implement the full suite of VRS technologies into their products, offering their customers what Anchor Bay calls an unprecedented viewing experience.

DVDO iScan VP50

The DVDO iScan VP50 is a system-level, high-definition video processor and AV hub that converts standard-definition, high-definition (including 1080p), and PC signals from DVD players, HD-DVD players, Blu-ray players, HD DVRs, game consoles, and PCs to any output resolution between VGA and 1080p (see the Figure).

The VP50 features all of the processing power of Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series (VRS) technologies, including 10-bit Precision Video Scaling II that can independently scale an image horizontally and vertically to achieve outstanding picture quality for today's high-definition video displays; and 10-bit HD Precision Deinterlacing that provides motion, edge and source adaptive processing for an artifact-free viewing experience.

Pricing and Availability

The DVDO iScan VP50 is currently shipping. It has a suggested retail price of $2,999.
