LXI Case Studies: Boost throughput in mfg by 200% and cathodic protection of steel in concrete
Learn how a semiconductor mfr shaved 2800 ms off the time required to test W-CDMA power amplifier IC, a 233% increase in daily throughput compared to a GPIB-based system by using an Agilent LXI test system. In another example, concrete durability is prolonged using an LXI based test system.

Whatever Happened To 802.20? By Louis E. Frenzel, Communications/Test Editor
I've been writing about WiMAX and the 3G/4G technologies lately, and every now and then I see references to the competing IEEE 802.20 standard. The IEEE established the 802.20 wireless mobile broadband group in 2002. Work began, and progress was made. But whatever happened to it? Now I know, so I can tell you all about it...
In this premiere edition of Mark David's Roadmap, Mark checks out NI week held in Austin, Texas on August 7-9. Innovations there included the release of LabVIEW 8.5, and throngs of LabVIEW users were on-hand to present their latest creations...
The MathWorks' Matlab 7.4 makes quick work of computationally challenging tasks. Embedded/Systems/Software Editor William Wong takes a look at Matlab and how it can be used with embedded applications.
Ologic specializes in building two-wheel balancing robotics for several uses, from service robots that can follow a specific person to robots that can autonomously move around specific waypoints for security, office mail delivery, warehouse automation, or other traditional non-robotic product domains.
Last year, Nokia developed the Wibree ultra-low-power (ULP) personal-area networking (PAN) technology for very small and low-power applications. Bluetooth, needing a spec to cover such ULP technology, will incorporate Wibree for more widespread PAN connectivity.
LNB Makes Satellite TV Receivers Smaller And Cheaper Than Ever
Satellite TV receivers are made in two parts: a front end mounted on the 18-in. dish antenna connected by coax to the inside box. NXP Semiconductor's latest chip makes the front end better than ever.
Cadence And Mentor Develop Open-Source SystemVerilog Methodology
EDA giants Cadence Design Systems and Mentor Graphics announced that they will create and standardize a verification methodology based on the IEEE 1800(TM)-2005 SystemVerilog standard.
Sprint Nextel Corp. expects to see $2 billion to $2.5 billion in revenues from its WiMAX wireless broadband network by 2010, the company announced on Thursday.

Power Electronics Technology Exhibition & Conference
More technical Content. More exhibits. More teardowns. More of what you need to know to find the right technologies, products and components to integrate into an ever-evolving array of complex applications. From Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, the Power Electronics Technology Exhibition & Conference, held in the Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas, Texas, will give you the tools to optimize every element of the design process:
An educational program focuses on practical, day-to-day solutions;
A full contingent of suppliers demonstrating their latest innovations in the Exhibit Hall;
And a conference schedule that hits all of the high notes - digital and portable power, power design, conversion and management, magnetics, alternative energy, LED drivers and more.
The members of Electronic Design's Engineering Hall of Fame are those men and women whose accomplishments have shaped the electronics industry and, by extension, our world. It's time to vote for the 2007 slate of inductees. Give us a few minutes of your time to browse through our list of nominees and tell us who you think should be honored this year.
National Association Of Broadcasters Engineering Handbook: 10th Edition By Graham Jones, Dave Layer, Thomas Osenkowsky, and Edmund Williams
This not-so-little jewel has 2072 pages and weighs 11 lb. (Yes, I actually weighed it.) My initial reaction was that I don't have much to do with broadcast standards or technology. But after I read the book, I found it was a fabulous reference on electronics, wireless, and communications in general.
