Squeeze 10-Bit Performance From An 8-Bit ADC, Part 3: Self-Dithering ADCs
By Dave Van Ess, Application Engineer, MTS Cypress Semiconductor
Part 2 of this series showed a practical example of how to construct a triangular additive dither that only required two pulse-width modulators (PWMs) and an XOR gate. Although this technique only required some additional hardware, it may be possible to dither with no additional hardware.
Wireless technology is spreading sensor applications to just about everywhere in the world, and the exhibitors at Sensors Expo & Conference 2008, held June 9-11 in Rosemont, Ill., are all ready to take advantage of these global opportunities. Designers now include wireless sensors in automobiles, trains, and airplanes to monitor performance and energy use.
Wayne Talley, Product Marketing for Precision ADCs at Analog Devices, talks about the new AD7626 and AD7625 converters, the newest additions to the PulSAR family of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).
Webinar: Read Pacing: A Performance Enhancing Feature of PCI Express Gen 2 Switch Devices A new feature called Read Pacing is now available on Gen 2 PCI Express switches. This technology opens up new avenues for enhancing performance in systems with multiple I/O streams. To learn more about Read Pacing from PLX Technology, please click on the link above. Adapt DC Voltage To Perform PWM Dimming Of High-Brightness LEDs
High-brightness LEDs (HBLEDs) are making inroads into more traditional lighting applications that include a dc distribution system (for example, 24-V MR-16 track lights). HBLEDs are more efficient, and they have a potentially longer lifespan than halogen and xenon lamps.
Photovoltaic Technology Maximizes Solar Energy Production
Enabling current solar technology to extract significantly more energy in variable light conditions, National Semiconductor enters the photovoltaic market with SolarMagic, a technology that promises to increase the overall energy output of solar power generating systems.
If you haven't seen our video coverage, you don't know DAC

TARDEC, working alongside DRS Technologies, has designed and developed a highly efficient, mobile power source demonstrator. The XM1124 Hybrid Electric Humvee is an advanced series hybrid electric vehicle that houses an engine/generator as the prime power source. It also has a high-voltage battery pack for short-term load leveling and brake event energy storage. And it can export power. The vehicle demonstrator displays tactical mobility, and in some cases itsurpasses the standard Humvee. With additional characteristics that reduce fuel consumption, provide for export power, and meet some standard Humvee requirements, the HE Humvee has payoffs that can be attained on current and future military vehicles.

Optical Interface For HD video In Home Entertainment Systems Makes Sense
The Omron Electronic Components SX51 fiber-optic cable assembly includes a transmitter and receiver module on each end of the cable, making it bidirectional. It¹s designed to address the data-transfer challenges inherent in the uncompressed bandwidth-intensive applications associated with HDMI rev. 1.3-compliant HD video and HDCP Video extender markets.
The Qseven Consortium has released version 1.0 of the Qseven specification, which unlike previous computer-on-module (COM) standards, focuses primarily on mobile and ultra-mobile applications. The specification defines fast serial differential interfaces such as PCI Express and Serial ATA, but omits support for legacy interfaces like EIDE and PCI in order to provide ideal support for today as well as future CPU’s and chipsets.
DisplaySearch has revised its forecast for desktop monitors through 2015 in the company’s latest Quarterly Desktop Monitor Shipment and Forecast Report. The in-depth analysis of longer term trends indicates that the desktop monitor market is poised for growth throughout the forecast period.

I will be straight with you and say I have no idea how to write a review of a book like this. It does indeed fit the definition of the word “tome,â€쳌 but I mean that in the best possible way. If you are looking for a master reference on antennas, this is certainly a great one. You will not be disappointed.
