Claiming a speed benchmark for 12-bit devices, the MAX1213, MAX1214, and MAX1215 a/d converters deliver sampling rates of 170, 210, and 250 Msamples/s, respectively. The converters operate at frequencies up to 300 MHz with signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) from 65.1 dB to 65.8 dB. The leader of the pack, the MAX1215 achieves a spurious-free dynamic range of 74 dBc and a SNR of 66 dB at 10 MHz that remains flat within 2 dB at frequencies up to 300 MHz. Its analog input accommodates differential or single-ended signals while supporting either ac or dc coupling. The digital outputs are LVDS compatible and data format is selectable as either two's complement or offset binary. Other features include 1.8V operation, a divide-by-2 clock circuit, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. In a 68-pin TQFN-EP package, price for the MAX1215 starts at $47.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
