The ADS1110 debuts as the industry’s first 16-bit, delta-sigma A/D converter with an integrated voltage reference in an SOT23-6 package. Also touted as an easy-to-use data acquisition system, the device further integrates a programmable gain amplifier, oscillator, and an I2C interface. The 2.048V reference features an accuracy of 0.05% with 5 ppm/C° drift, with the device performing conversions with programmable data rates of 15, 30, 60 or 240 samples/s. With an eye on power-sensitive applications, the ADC touts a current consumption of 240 µA (typical) and can be configured to automatically power down after a conversion. Operation is from a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply, and an evaluation fixture is available. Pricing starts at $1.95 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924, ext. 4500.
