With an operating efficiency of 85%, the MAX9713 mono and MAX9714 stereo class-D audio amplifiers eliminate the need for heatsinks, making them candidates for thin-profile applications, such as flat-panel TVs and PC displays. Both devices specify a 0.04% THD+N, PSRR of 76 dB at 1kHz, and they employ a patented modulation scheme that reduces EMI emissions by 5 dB over comparable amplifiers. Operation is from a 10V to 25V supply with an output power up to 6W into an 8? load. Four selectable-gain options of +13 dB, +16.1 dB, +19.1 dB, and +22.1 dB allow users to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio under different load and input-level conditions. Other features include four clocking options that provide control of the noise spectrum. The MAX9713 is available in a 32-pin QFN package and the MAX9714 comes in a 32-pin QFN. Prices start at $1.60 and $2 each/100,000, respectively. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
