The AS1534 parallel interface a-d converter features ultra low power consumption, making it well suited to battery-powered devices and portable data-acquisition systems requiring fast parallel I/O and multiple analog inputs. The 8-channel, 12-bit ADC from austriamicrosystems also offers good dynamic performance (THD The analog inputs are software configurable. Design engineers can choose either the 8-channel single-ended mode or the fully differential 4-channel mode (see the photo). The fully differential input mode enables precise measurements under noisy conditions, particularly those that are commonly found in industrial environments.

The AS1534 offers 12-bit resolution on each of the eight input channels. Conversion speed is 200 ksps, while using less than 2.5 mA (including the internal reference). Power consumption can be cut further (0.5mA at 10ksps)with a number of power-down options. In shutdown mode the supply current drops to 1 µA. An integrated 2.5-V reference reduces external component count.

Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. The AS1534 is available in a Pb-free 44-pin PQFP package.
