ADCs Deliver High Speed And Resolution

In one corner, the AD7641 claims title as the market's fastest 18-bit SAR a/d converter and, in the other corner, the AD7760 takes a bow as the most accurate 20-bit sigma-delta a/d converter. The AD7641 delivers up to 2 Msamples/s with a typical nonlinearity of 2 LSB and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 93 dB. Claiming a second breakthrough, the AD7760 exhibits the industry’s highest SNR of 100 dB at 2.5 Msamples/s. It also integrates an on-chip buffer and differential amplifiers. In applications such as vibration analysis and medical imaging, the AD7641 is said to eliminate the need for a discrete, low-noise PGA, while the AD7760 promises to simplify anti aliasing filtering. The AD7641 comes in either a 48-lead LFCSP or LQFP and the AD7760 is available in a 64-lead TQFP or 48-lead LFCSP. Prices are $32.95 and $34.95 each/1,000, respectively.
