Targeting portable products, the WM9001 1W, mono switchable Class AB/D speaker driver offers user selectable features including class D or AB output modes, single-ended or differential-input modes, device clocking, and speaker boost gain. Its small footprint allows for placement close to the speaker housing, simplifying PCB layout and maintaining signal integrity by minimizing high frequency signal track lengths. The device also interfaces easily with the WM8990 audio hub codec and the WM8400 audio and power management IC, enabling a full stereo 1W class AB/D speaker driver design for multimedia-rich mobile handsets. Sampling now in either a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN-16 or 1.64 mm x1.64 mm CSP, price for the WM9001 is $0.45 each/10,000. WOLFSON MICROELECTRONICS PLC, San Diego, CA. (858) 676-5090.
