With about two-thirds lower quiescent current and 80% lower noise floor than comparable devices, the TPA2012D2 Class-D audio amplifier delivers up to 2.1W while operating from a 3.3V supply and consuming 6 mA. The device specifies an A-weighted noise floor of 27 µVRMS, well below the level detectable by the human ear. It requires just two external components for correct operation and includes four gain select options and independent-channel shutdown. The device is available in a 4 mm x 4 mm TQFN package and is sampling in a 2 mm x 2 mm WCSP. Production volumes of the WCSP will be available in March. Prices for TQFN and WCSP devices are $0.95 and $1.05 each/1,000, respectively. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
