Dubbed the industry’s highest accuracy d/a converter, the DAC9881 delivers 18-bit monotonic performance, a ±2 LSB integral nonlinearity, and a ±1 LSB differential nonlinearity. Built on the company’s analog CMOS process technology, the single-channel, voltage-output converter also packs a low-noise output buffer, which reduces the number of necessary external components. The device supports a SPI capable of operating with input-clock frequencies up to 50 MHz, allowing it to interface with popular DSPs, MCUs, and FPGAs. Other specs include a power consumption of 4 mW at 5V, noise figure of 24 nV/rtHz, settling time of 5 µs, rail-to-rail output swing over the full supply range of 2.7V to 5.5V, and selectable power-on reset to zero-scale or midscale. Available in a QFN-24 package measuring 4 mm x 4 mm, pricing starts at $16.90 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Fort Worth, TX. (800) 477-8924.
