Debuting as the industry’s first wideband, 900-MHz fully-differential amplifier to integrate a programmable output limiting clamp, the LMH6553 has the ability to protect a/d converters and other downstream circuitry from over-voltage events. The integrated clamp also promises better distortion figures and higher bandwidth. The device operates over a -40?C to +125?C temperature range and features a 900-MHz unity-gain bandwidth while consuming 29 mA of supply current. This results in power-to-performance ratio of 32 µA per MHz. Other features include operation from a single 4.5V supply up to a split ±6V supply, 4 kV of ESD protection , a 600-ps clamp overdrive recovery time, guaranteed ±53-mV clamp accuracy plus a -0.1 mV/?C clamp-accuracy temperature coefficient, an input voltage noise of 1.2 nV/?Hz, and an input-current noise of 13.6 pA/?Hz. Available now in both eight-pin PSOP and eight-pin LLP packages, price is $3.35 each/1,000. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
