Expanding its high-speed data converter portfolio, the company has introduced 10 new 12-/14-/16-bit dual digital-to-analog converters with update rates up to 500 Msamples/s. The 12-bit MAX5873, 14-bit MAX5874, and 16-bit MAX5875 DACs feature CMOS inputs and a 200 Msamples/s update rate. The 12-bit MAX5876, 14-bit MAX5877, and 16-bit MAX5878 devices feature LVDS inputs and a 250 Msamples/s update rate. The 12-bit MAX5893, 14-bit MAX5894,16-bit MAX5895 and MAX5898 parts have both CMOS and LVDS input options, a 500 Msamples/s update rate, selectable 2x/4x/8x interpolating filters, and a selectable digital quadrature modulator. All of the DACs are suitable for applications such as single/multi-carrier base stations, broadband communications, cable-modem termination systems (CMTS), direct digital synthesis (DDS), and instrumentation. In terms of performance, at the low end the MAX5873 delivers 78 dBc SFDR at 16 MHz output frequency while consuming just 255 mW. At the high end, the MAX5895 delivers 92 dBc SFDR and -100 dBc two-tone IMD at 10 MHz output frequency while consuming 1.1W. All devices are pin-compatible, specified for the extended-industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and available in a 68-pin QFN-EP package. Evaluation kits and transmitter reference designs are available. All devices are in production, with prices ranging from $10.13 to $22.45 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
