Assuming position as the smallest available, the 8-bit MAX5548 and 10-bit MAX5550 dual d/a converters measure 3 mm x 3 mm in TQFN packages. Despite their size, the devices manage to include either a SPI or I2C interface, both of which are pin selectable. Shared features include a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply range, d/a current of 200 μA, an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, software-selectable shutdown that reduces supply current to 5 μA, a 1.25V reference, and support for external references from 1.225V to 1.275V. Additionally, the devices include a DOUT for daisy chaining multiple devices or read back in SPI mode. Prices for the MAX5548 and MAX5550 are $2.97 and $3.37 each/1,000, respectively.
