Fast Recovery Epitaxial Diode Family Now Includes 400V-Rated Devices

July 1, 2001
Output diodes with fast recovery speeds have been developed for increasing the efficiency and reducing the size, weight and cost of power supplies. The new 8ETU04, 16CTU04, 30CPU04 and 60EPU04 epitaxial, 400V diodes have current ratings from 8A to 60A

Output diodes with fast recovery speeds have been developed for increasing the efficiency and reducing the size, weight and cost of power supplies. The new 8ETU04, 16CTU04, 30CPU04 and 60EPU04 epitaxial, 400V diodes have current ratings from 8A to 60A and are appropriate for 48V output switch-mode power supplies for use in datacomm, telecomm and other equipment. Generally, two or four of the devices are used in each power supply for each datacomm or telecomm units. In addition to fast recovery times, the new diodes have a soft recovery waveshape to reduce or eliminate the need for snubber components in the output circuit. The low forward voltage drop reduces conduction losses and low reverse recovery current reduces switching losses. Pricing for the diodes begins at $0.45 each/10,000 for the 8ETU04. All devices in the 400V family are immediately available.
