Gen2 Adaptive RF CMOS Power Amp Cuts Costs

Predicting significantly lower costs relative to standard GaAs modules, Amalfi Semiconductor’s second-generation CMOS-based transmit modules for front-end GSM/GPRS cellular handsets employ the AdaptiveRF architecture. As a result, they can incorporate highly integrated derivative functions including switches and complex filters, allowing a significant ongoing reduction in front-end costs, size, and power consumption. The architecture integrates a power amplifier, controller, transmit and receive switch, filtering and all matching components into a 28 mm2 module. Amalfi Semiconductor, Los Gatos, CA.
