Optimized to work with the C6000 DSP platform, the ADS5500 a/d converter family has expanded to include five new members. The 14-bit ADS5541 specifies a SNR of 71 dB at 105 Msamples/s with a power dissipation of 710 mW. Offered as a cost-effective alternative, the 14-bit ADS5542 delivers 80 Msamples/s while consuming 670 mW. The 12-bit ADS5520 and ADS5521 sample at 125 and 105 Msamples/s, respectively, and exhibit a SNR of 69 dB with a 100 MHz input frequency. Rounding out the line, the 12-bit ADS5522 operates at 80 Msamples/s with a 70 dB SNR. The five new members of the ADS5500 family are sampling now, with volume production scheduled for 3Q 2004. Available in 64-TQFP PowerPad packages, prices range from $21 (ADS5522) to $75 (ADS5541). Evaluation modules (EVMs) are also available. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
