LNAs Improve GPS Receive Sensitivity

The MAX2657 and MAX2658 low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) target GPS-enabled applications operating in the 1,575 MHz band and specify a 0.8-dB noise figure. The MAX2657 consumes 4 mA of operating current while the MAX2658 sucks up 7.7 mA. When not in use, the devices enter a logic-enabled shutdown mode that reduces supply current to less than 1 µA. Both devices come in 0.4-mm pitch WLPs that require 1 mm2 of board space. Other shared features include an operating voltage from 1.6V to 3.3V supply and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Prices start at $0.45 each/1,000.
