Optimized for fiber optic supervisory systems, the AD8305 logarithmic converter promises accurate measurement and control of optical signals at various points in the network. The device is capable of interfacing with a wide range of photodiodes and provides a dynamic range of 100 dB and an accuracy of 0.1 dB. An integrated output buffer provides amplification and filtering capabilities, allowing the converter to interface with a/d converters and other devices. Operating from 3V to 12V power supply, the dc output gives a log-scaled picture of the input current. The AD3805 is offered as a lower dynamic range alternative to the 160 dB AD3804.
