Multi-channel and multiplexed applications requiring an accurate, small size, low-cost successive approximation register (SAR) A/D converter represent the key markets for the AD7655, reportedly the fastest 4-channel 16-bit SAR ADC available today. The 4-input-channel device offers in a low-profile 48-lead LQFP or LFCSP package a 1-Msample/s sampling rate, 86 dB SNR at 100 kHz, single supply (5V) operation, and a 0V-5V analog input range. Further, two on-chip, low-noise, wideband track-and-hold amplifiers, each preceded by a 2-channel multiplexer, provide simultaneous sampling capability. The SAR ADC dissipates 120 mW (typ.), has a -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range, and is priced at $7.99 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643
