The AD534x family takes stage as the industry's first octal d/a converters available in 6 x 6-mm chipscale packages (CSPs). The devices integrate eight parallel-interface DACs and operate from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply, with typical power consumption being 1 mA (1.65 mA at 5.5V). The AD5346, AD5347 and AD5348 are 8-, 10- and 12-bit devices, respectively, with adjustable output voltage ranges from 0V to VREF or 0V to 2 x VREF in either buffered or non-buffered modes. A read-back feature allows data in the internal registers to be read back via the parallel interface, a function said to be useful in system validation. All input data is double buffered to allow simultaneous updating of all eight converters by way of an LDAC pin. The devices are pin-compatible and operate at temperatures from -40°C to 105°C. Also available in 38-lead TSSOPs, prices range from $2.42 to $8.45 each/100, depending on resolution and package. ANALOG DEVICES INC, Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
