Reportedly able to survive in dust-contaminated environments, the OPI1270, OPI1280 and OPI1290 optical isolators consist of a red LED with phototransistor or a Photologic sensor. Target applications are those requiring high-voltage isolation between the input and output. The devices sport a unique design that allows them to mount on any end. The OPI1270 and OPI1280 isolators feature a red LED and a phototransistor sensor, while the OPI1290 features a red LED and a Photologic totem-pole output sensor. In each isolator, the LED and sensor are housed in separate opaque molded plastic housings and coupled via a plastic cable. Isolation voltage is more than 20 kV with 1.27-mm lead spacing. Power dissipation rating is 100 mW with an operating temperature range from -40°C to +100°C. Custom specifications, lengths, wire, and connectors are also available. Typical pricing starts at $3.45 each/1,000. OPTEK TECHNOLOGY INC., Carrollton, TX. (972) 323-2200.
