Merger May Create Market’s Largest Distributor

July 19, 2010

The merger of WPG Holdings Limited and Yosun Industrial Corp. sets the stage for the creation of what some are calling the market’s largest electronics distributor. According to research company iSuppli Corp., not only will WPG continue to strengthen its leadership role in Asia, it also now has the opportunity to replace Arrow Electronics Inc. as the world’s largest electronics component distributor. In 2009, the total combined revenue of the WPG/Yosun entity was approximately $9.6 billion, compared to Arrow’s component sales of approximately $9.8 billion. Another major distributor, Avnet Inc., generated $9.2 billion in the electronics component distribution market.
