CSR said it has enhanced its lBlueCore4-ROM Plug-n-Go automotive Bluetooth silicon with Bluetooth v.2.1 functionality.

Bluetooth v.2.1 includes enhanced power optimization, improved security and simpler pairing that eliminates the need for pin codes. Discoverable devices can be set to automatically pair with in-range devices. Bluetooth v.2.1 also supports sniff sub-rating, which reduces power consumption for battery operated devices, and it allows pairing by other technologies; for example, pairing by passing Near Field Communications (NFC)-enabled devices close to each other.
