Current-Sense Module Protects Automotive Circuitry

Capable of sensing low current levels in high-noise environments, this new series of intelligent current-sensing modules target automotive applications such as engine control, battery conditioning, integrated starter and generator functions, and other automotive circuits where extremely low current levels need to be monitored. A basic module in the series is a four-terminal current-sense resistor that exhibits a Kelvin loss of 50 milliohms to 100 milliohms, an insertion loss of approximately 150 milliohms, and a continuous current rating of up to 200A.
The module's terminations can be either mounted to a heatsink or configured as an in-line cable connection. In addition to the standard module, custom tailored units can be provided to meet specific circuit requirements.
