Eight-Bit MCUs Operate At 40 MHz

Aug. 1, 2001

With an operating speed of 40 MHz at 5V ±10% and 10 MIPS of single-cycle instruction execution, the PIC16C5X and PIC16C6XX families of microcontrollers (MCUs) afford a code compatible migration path to the PIC18Cxxx devices. Advantages of the new devices include the ability to react to code changes and reduced verification cycles coupled with increased speed. Markets targeted for the devices include consumer electronics, telecommunications, automotive, and industrial. The PIC16C5X and PIC16C6XX families of microcontrollers are available in a variety of lower pin counts that include 18-lead PDIP and SOIC packages, 20-lead SSOPs and 28-lead PDIPs and SOIC packages.
