SmarTire Systems Inc. and Avnet Electronics Marketing’s Singapore Programming Centre have each received ISO/TS 16949 quality certification.
SmarTire, which develops wireless sensing and control systems for transportation applications, was registered to ISO/TS 16949:2002 by the Vehicle Certification Agency.
"SmarTire was previously compliant to QS-9000 and registration to TS 16949 was vital to securing new OEM contracts, enhancing customer satisfaction and providing for continuous improvement," said Terry Annas, SmarTire’s manager of quality assurance and manufacturing.
The Avnet unit was certified by the Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance. "The ISO/TS 16949 standard is a quality management system specifically for the automotive sector," said Louis Lam, vice president of logistics, operations and IT at Avnet Electronics Marketing. "Without possessing this standard, companies cannot perform value-added services like device programming for automotive products.”
