NAVIGON acquires NAVTEQ

Navigation software developer NAVIGON Inc. (www.navigonusa.com) has acquired map information provider NAVTEQ (www.navteq.com).

Navigation software developer NAVIGON Inc. has acquired map information provider NAVTEQ. Terms weren’t disclosed.

NAVIGON can now apply the development cycles of personal navigation devices to in-dash navigation and the quality of in-dash infotainment systems to consumer devices. NAVTEQ software director Ed Marcheselli said the firms have worked together strategically for many years.

"We expect this acquisition will be an important part of an industrywide convergence for the infotainment platform," added Andreas Hecht, NAVIGON's general manager for the Americas.
