Randy Frank is a contributing editor to Auto Electronics and president of Randy Frank & Associates Ltd., a technical marketing consultancy based in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is an SAE and IEEE Fellow and has been involved in automotive electronics for over 25 years. Randy worked for Chrysler and American Motors, now both part of DaimlerChrysler, on ignition, charging, cranking and electronic engine control systems. At Motorola and International Rectifier, he was instrumental in the design-in of power MOSFETs and smart power ICs for injector drivers, antilock brake systems, electronic power steering, and body electronic systems as well as IGBTs for ignition and injector driver applications. Randy was formerly chairman for Automotive Electronics Technical committee in the IEEE Power Electronics Society and a member of the MIT Consortium on Advanced Automotive Electrical/Electronic Components and Systems. He has made over 50 presentations at technical conferences including an invited paper at Vice-President Gore's Fifth Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) Symposium. Randy has organized and chaired several technical sessions at conferences and through the web.
