STMicroelectronics (www.st.com) is joining forces with Mobileye N.V. (www.mobileye.com) to develop visual-aid driving-assistance chips.

STMicroelectronics is joining forces with Mobileye N.V. to develop visual-aid driving-assistance chips.

ST will manufacture Mobileye’s EyeQ-1 system-on-chip, which includes lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and vision/radar fusion for active safety. EyeQ-1 will debut in after-market driver-assistance products in early 2006, and in 2007 model-year cars. The firms will jointly develop EyeQ-2, which is expected to include pedestrian detection capabilities. It’s planned for late 2008 models.
