Volkswagen AG and Continental Automotive Systems have announced a strategic partnership for the development and supply of the power electronics for future hybrid projects. Concurrently, Volkswagen has placed an order with Continental Automotive Systems and ZF Friedrichshafen AG for a hybrid drive module consisting of an electric drive that includes power electronics.

The hybrid drive module is to be developed jointly with ZF Friedrichshafen, a division of Continental that is responsible for the power electronics. ZF Friedrichshafen supplies the electric motor, the clutch and the dual mass flywheel.
