12-Bit A/D Converters Offer Development Tool Support

Based on a successive-approximation register architecture, the MCP320X family of four 12-bit analog-to-digital converters features a throughput of 100 ksamples/s and low power consumption of 400 µA active and 500 nA on standby. The ADCs operate from 2.7V to 5.5V and offer ±1 LSB differential and integral non-linearity maximum at 100 ksps. They also guarantee no missing codes and provide a serial output with an SPI bus interface.The devices are available in 1-, 2-, 4- and 8-input channel versions (MCP3201, MCP3202, MCP3204 and MCP3208, respectively) and in a wide variety of packages and pin counts. Also available is a full set of support tools, including application notes and the MCP320X evaluation system, which consists of a control board with a PICmicro device coupled with an MCP320X device-specific daughterboard.
