The latest versions of the16-bit F2MC-16FX microcontroller family meet emerging requirements for automotive safety, reliability, and passenger-comfort applications. These include dashboards, air-conditioning control, anti-lock braking systems, and power steering. The devices provide RISC-like performance via an improved CPU architecture with a higher bus bandwidth than their predecessor series, the F2MC-16LX. Combining the advantages of 16- and 32- bit architectures with C-code with a 16-bit instruction set and instruction pipelining, 16FX MCUs operate at speeds up to 56 MHz. Upgraded versions of the 32-bit MB91460 series MCUs with FR70 CPU cores target body control, infotainment, and FlexRay applications. Operating at rates up to 100 MHz, the controllers integrate up to 4 MB of embedded flash memory, prefetch/cache architectures, flash security, and other functions to support emerging vehicle applications. Additionally, the 32-bit series provides gateway functionality and enables the integration of multiple CAN networks. FUJITSU MICROELECTRONICS AMERICA INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 737-5600.
