Packing the power to fire up large LCDs common to industrial, medical, or consumer applications that require a real-time clock (RTC) and an LCD controller, the MAXQ3100 mixed-signal microcontroller integrates a digitally trimmable RTC with a dedicated backup battery pin, LCD interface that supports up to 160 segments, a frequency-locked loop, two analog comparators, and a digital temperature sensor. It also packs 16 KB of EEPROM, 1 KB of SRAM, a watchdog timer, two USARTs, and three timers. An evaluation kit is available that includes an on-board LCD and a JTAG interface board. Its integrated development environment includes a debugger, assembler/linker, a time-limited version of the IAR C-compiler, and a simulator.
