The PL-8000, a 1U rack-mount networking and network security platform, employs an Intel EP80579 integrated processor, described as a SoC processor that integrates a CPU, north and south bridges, and optional Intel QuickAssist accelerator technology.

The PL-8000, a 1U rack-mount networking and network security platform, employs an Intel EP80579 integrated processor, described as a SoC processor that integrates a CPU, north and south bridges, and optional Intel QuickAssist accelerator technology. The platform offers a choice of processor performance at either 600 MHz or 1.2 GHz, up to 2 GB of DDRII RAM, and a full set of VPN functions such as encryption, hashing, and public/private key generation. Storage features include one 3.5" SATA HDD and CompactFlash. Other features include five GbE Copper and a maximum of 8 GbE Ethernet ports via PCI-E by one or by four accessible on the front-panel, support for one segment of LAN bypass function through WDT and GPIO pin definitions, a USB 2.0 port, RJ-45 console port, and LED indicators to monitor power and storage activities.
