A series of CompactPCI enclosures in 2U and 4U heights offers hot-swappable power supplies. The units provide cooling fans, hot-swappable air-intake fan canisters, hot-swappable exhaust fans, and a variety of backplane options, including H.110 and 2.16 versions. The −48-V dc version is equipped with dual isolating diodes for the central-office environment. For additional storage, the removable hard-disk-drive canisters include bays for two or four 3.5-in. hard disks. The enclosures are equipped with provisions for front- or center-mounted rack ears for 19- and 23-in. racks. In 100-unit quantities, the 2U and 4U carrier-class enclosures cost $2083 and $3018 each, respectively. Both are available immediately. A Pentium III, 700-MHz CPU board, 512 Mbytes of DRAM, a 20-Gbyte hard-disk drive, and a slim line floppy drive can be added to the enclosure for $3398.
