With a 20° viewing angle in a 5.0-mm round-lensed package, the LC503NPP-20H-A3 RGB solid-state LED from Marktech Optoelectronics is well-suited for use in accent lighting and color-changing lighting applications ( target="_blank">see the Figure). The LED features a close chip density and brightness for excellent color mixing. Its 4-pin package allows individual control of each red, green, and blue chip so users can produce a complete color spectrum. The components feature luminosity of up to 4180 mcd (red and green) and 1100 mcd (blue) at 20 mA. They have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 95°C. The color-mixing capability of the InGaAlP and InGaN devices is useful in applications such as event lighting, architectural accent lighting, mood lighting, and artistic installations. They can also be used in multi-color backlighting, light pipes, full-color signboards, decorative lighting, general indicators, and amusement equipment.
