A new adapter enables designers to replace a 132-pin PQFP package IC with the newer 144-pin TQFP with no need for board redesign or rework. The top of the 7484-117-18 adapter reroutes the pinout of the 144-pin device, such as a Motorola DSP56002, to make it compatible with the 132-pin device footprint on the existing pc board. The 7484-117-18 adapter utilizes a gold-plated bump for achieving the SMT connection. This design eliminates the possibility of bent leads, as well as providing a rigid, non-slumping standoff for the solder connection. With a thin substrate construction, the 7484-117-18 still provides .015" for underfill, if desired. The UL94V-0-rated adapter body is constructed of a .062" thick glass-filled FR-4 material with 1 oz. copper traces. Male connections are a proprietary ENIG plating over silver epoxy. Additionally, the 7484-117-18 adapter can be furnished in custom materials, platings, sizes and configurations to meet specific application needs. Pricing is $28.43 each/100.
