Vicor released the first family of dc-dc converter products based on its V*I Chip, a BGA-style power component. Intended for use in intermediate voltage bus architectures, this family of bus converter modules (BCMs) consists of 48- to 12-V dc-dc converters. The BCM Model B048K120T20 delivers 200 W, yet it requires only 0.85 by 1.26 in. of board space—less than one-third the board area of a quarter-brick package. Also offered are 100- and 150-W models. The modules are priced as low as 12 cents/W in OEM quantities.
