To limit installation time while providing greater design options in wire-to-board and wire-to-wire applications, the SPOX blind-mate interface (BMI) connectors employ a self-aligning feature in what is said to be the smallest blind-mate packages available. The connectors allow for a mated-stack distance of 11 mm. They rely on a dual-row, panel-mount design on a 2.5 mm centerline spacing that accommodates up to 3 mm of misalignment between connectors, horizontally and vertically, prior to engagement. Additionally, the headers are molded in LCP high-temperature plastic to meet lead-free requirements. The connectors are available in wire gauges up to 22 AWG with current ratings to 3A at 250V. Pricing for a six-position, wire-to-board mated connector costs approximately $0.70 each in high volumes. MOLEX INC., Lisle, IL. (630) 969-4550.
