Board Boosts CompactPCI System Performance Without Exceeding Thermal Budgets

Dec. 3, 2013
Equipped with Intel’s quad-core 1.9-GHz Atom E3800 processors, the CP3010-SA processor board quadruples the performance of Atom-based Kontron CompactPCI systems without increasing the thermal budget.

Equipped with Intel’s quad-core 1.9-GHz Atom E3800 processors, the CP3010-SA processor board quadruples the performance of Atom-based Kontron CompactPCI systems without increasing the thermal budget. As a result, the board can serve as a drop-in replacement for many systems, including Intel Core 2 Duo processor-based CPCI systems. According to Kontron, the board boasts three times higher graphics performance versus previous Atom-based designs, coupled with a high thermal design power (TDP) value. A special heatsink design for convection-cooled environments suits applications that don’t prefer fans or are not possible. The CP3010-SA incorporates up to 8 Gbytes of DDR3L memory. Intel Gen7 graphics produce 2D, 3D, and video capabilities for up to two independent displays connected via two DisplayPorts and VGA. Interfaces include three Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, three USB 2.0 plus CAN bus, and two COM ports. Two SATA interfaces used for an on-board CFAST socket provide data and software storage. Single-slot (4HP) and dual-slot (8HP) versions are available.
