Announced as the industry's first true single-chip, dual-port, 10-Gigabit, Ethernet converged network interface controller (C-NIC), the NetXtreme II BCM57710 targets high-volume server designs and requires no external memory. The device enables simultaneous processing of network, storage, processor clustering, and management traffic on chip while supporting convergence of different traffic types over a single Ethernet fabric. It converges TCP, iSCSI, RDMA, and remote management traffic over 10 GbE with PCI Express and is optimized for line rate performance across small I/O sizes and for low latency. The BCM57710 supports a complete ecosystem for server LOMs (lights out management) that includes features such as iSCSI boot, pre-boot execution environment, and a universal management port or DMTF's Network Controller-Sideband Interface (NC-SI) to enable interfacing to baseboard management controllers. Sampling now, volume production is expected during the fourth quarter. Pricing is available upon request. BROADCOM CORP., Irvine, CA. (949) 926-5000.
