Chassis Slashes Time To Prototype cPCI Modules

Dec. 1, 1998

Employing an open frame construction to help provide total access to test points and to eliminate the need for extender boards, T-Frame development chassis is designed for the efficient prototyping and checking-out of CompactPCI (cPCI) modules and software. The development chassis features a digital display for showing voltage and temperature status. In addition, the chassis's 350W power supply can be mounted in the front or rear of the unit to maximize access to all test points. The supply features internal OR-ing diodes and power factor correction. In addition, all of the supply's outputs can be margined by ±5%, with the supply and chassis instantly configurable for hot-swap and/or N+1 redundancy with an optional second power supply.Other features of the cPCI development chassis include: card guides located at the rear of the chassis to support transition boards; a tilt design to improve access; an eight-layer backplane; a 3-1/2" peripheral bay; and side panels for protecting boards when the unit is transported, but that can be removed to improve access to the boards during operation.
