Based on the company's Zipper-DMT technology, the ZipperWire chipset supports all international VDSL-DMT standards (ITU-T, T1e1.4, and ETSI) and is compliant with the 997, 998 and flex frequency plans. Supporting aggregate data rates greater than 100 Mb/s, the STLC90115 discrete multi-tone modulation (DMT) processor and STLC90114 offer users a choice of data rates from 64 Kb/s to 100 Mb/s in both directions with a reach of up to 4,500’. Upstream and downstream traffic can be programmed with fine granularity for a range of symmetric and asymmetric combinations. The two devices in tandem also integrate a frequency-division duplex DMT VDSL modem from the line to the ATM interface, a feat said to normally require more than two chips. Available now, the ZipperWire chipset is priced at approximately $22 per chipset/100,000. Evaluation boards and a modem reference design are also available. STMICROELECTRONICS INC., Lexington, MA.
