Requiring no external reference clock for any supported data rate, the S3086 is a combined 30 Mb/s to 2.7 Gb/s continuous rate clock and data recovery IC designed to reduce overall board space. The device also boasts of excellent jitter performance capabilities, including jitter generation of 0.004UI, jitter tolerance of 0.8UI, and jitter transfer that peaks at less than 0.05 dB.
The device also offers an enhanced input sensitivity of 10 mV and typical power of only 825 mW. And the IC provides features that make it compatible with virtually any data source, including SONET, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and HDTV/DTV applications. In a 48-pin TQFP, the chip costs $44 each/100,000.
