Converter Integrates MOSFETs In 1.6-mm WLP

Feb. 28, 2011
In a 1.65 mm x 1.65 mm WLP, the MAX15053 current-mode, synchronous dc/dc converter integrates MOSFETs to minimize EMI and save board space while achieving an efficiency up to 96% at its full 2A load.

In a 1.65 mm x 1.65 mm WLP, the MAX15053 current-mode, synchronous dc/dc converter integrates MOSFETs to minimize EMI and save board space while achieving an efficiency up to 96% at its full 2A load. The device operates with a fixed 1-MHz switching frequency and its peak-current-mode architecture ensures reliable load regulation while simplifying compensation. Other features include fixed-PWM and skip-mode operation, an enable input, power-good indicator, adjustable soft-start, the ability to safely start up into a pre-biased output, operation from a 2.7V to 5.5V input voltage, and a ±1% output-voltage accuracy over temperature. Prices start at $1.38 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
