Converters Deliver 3 W From Tiny SIP

Jan. 12, 2007
Tracopower's isolated 3-W dc-dc converter modules provide remote on-off control and continuous short-circuit protection. They're particularly well suited for battery-operated and Green Power Compliant applications.

The TMR-3 series of isolated 3-W dc-dc converter modules from Tracopower feature a regulated output and a wide, 2:1 input voltage range. The devices come in a plastic 8-pin system-in-a-package (SIP) that occupies only 0.31 in.2 of board space. Models are available with input ranges of 4.5 to 9 V, 9 to 18 V, 18 to 36 V, and 36 to 75 V and outputs of 5, 12, 15, 24, ±5, ±12, and ±15 Vdc (see the Figure). All versions allow full-load operation over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. They come with an internal input filter and offer 1500-Vdc isolation, line regulation of 0.2%, and load regulation of 0.5%. Mean time between failures is rated at greater than 2.4 million hours.

The devices provide remote on-off control and continuous short-circuit protection. A shutdown input for low power consumption during standby operation makes them particularly well-suited for battery-operated and Green Power Compliant applications. The TMR-3 converters are lead-free and RoHS-compliant. Prices start as low as $11.50 for 1000-piece quantities. Delivery is from stock to eight weeks.
