Thanks to a new architecture, the Taurus Series of 40A standard half-brick dc/dc converters is said to deliver the highest efficiency in the industry, up to 93% efficiency for a 3.3V output at 20A and 90% at full load. The Taurus Series is the first to use the company's proprietary CoolConverter technology to provide high currents at the low voltages required by the latest digital circuits. They employ patent-pending magnetics to surpass the performance, common-mode noise, isolation, and reliability of planar magnetics. The compact Taurus modules are totally surface-mount assembled on a single, double-sided pc-board and are available in three standard packaging configurations: open frame, heatsink ready, and heatsink attached. The series offers 5.0, 3.3, 2.5, 1.8 and 1.5 Vdc output voltages and two input voltage ranges, 36 to 75 Vdc and 18 to 36 Vdc. The dc/dc converters sell for $99 each/1,000.
