The Micro WebTarget hardware/software package is aimed at developers of embedded designs, such as cell phones, PDAs and other mobile products. Based on Sun Microsystem's recently introduced Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) component of the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME), the tiny form-factor (3 cm x 6 cm) Micro WebTarget boasts of the following componenets: a processor core that combines the functionality of a 32-bit RISC processor with a powerful 16/32-bit DSP unit (the core provides 200 MOPS of processing power at 50 MHz); direct Internet connection capability; 4 MB of DRAM and 1 MB of flash memory; HyNetOS real-time multitasking network operating system; support of application development in Java, C or a combination of both on any PC or workstation; and a variety of optional expansion capabilities. The Micro WebTarget comes in kit form costing $2,350 and includes starter and expansion boards, HyNetOS Base version with an evaluation license, the Hyperstone Development tools on CD-ROM, and one year of technical support and updates. The Mobile Client Starter kit providing development support for Web-enabled wireless/cellular applications is also available for $3,400.
